Default Teleconverter for HS10 ?

I saw some people using the TCON-17 on the HS10 with great results.

Doing some research at BHphoto I've found this one:
Canon TC-DC58C 2x Teleconverter Lens
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...rter_Lens.html

Question is:
  • The price is about the same...Will it work with the HS10 and is this as good as TCON-17?
Thanks!

I don't know anything about it so I can't answer your question. I do know that the TCON17 works VERY well because I have used it for the past 3 years on several of the bridge cameras I've owned.

No. Some members went weeping to moderator, crying "Mummy ... eeehh .. mod, Donald makes SPAM !!! Huhuhuhu."

Look ebay.com, search and you will find lots&tons :-)
I buy my photo/PC gear in Far East, China, for 1/10 to 1/4 of European prices.
Hehe, it's SAME gear from China. Some people want to become VERY RICH!
But not with MY money :-))))

Generally, the more elements the better. Most of the $30 teleconverters have only two elements and were designed for low resolution entry level camcorders. They are not going to do a good job of correcting optical aberrations on the HS10. The TCON-17 has 5 elements in 3 groups. The Canon TC-DC58C has 3 elements in 3 groups. The Canon teleconverter works well on the lenses for which it was designed. The only way to know if it works well on the HS10 is to try it yourself or wait for others to review the combination. The TCON-17/B300 has earned a good reputation on many cameras and seems to work well on the HS10. I have a Sony teleconverter that seems to be the equal of the TCON17, but it's much heavier and probably more expensive.

Consider, HOW OFTEN you will use such converters! It is worth 99.99 ?

Each filter, each converter makes BAD pictures! Why pay 3x the price for 3.14159 % more picture quality ? ? ? No, thank you.

Same thing with wide angle or fisheye

fisheye converter $ 40 - fits DSLR and Bridge
manual fisheye lens for DSLR $ 290
full automatic fisheye for DSLR $ 999.99 or more

If your father is oil millionaire ... then you can forget to think ...

PS: stretching 30x zoom to 60x zoom isn't worth 1$ above 30$ . such pictures are always "catastrophal" (and unneccesary)
... else buy a Canon DSLR and a 5200mm lens
