I bought a couple sets of Eneloops and really have no complaints with battery usage. If you zoom while shooting video, there may be a problem. The manual zoom on my HS10 is quite sticky. Others say their zoom works smoothly. The camera is not suited to shooting sports since write times are very slow.

The savings are significant. Perhaps it's worth keeping it until you have a chance to fully test it yourself. Even if you choose not to keep it, you'll be able to sell it and break even if nothing else.
