Default Fuji RAW conversion help for beginner??

I am the new owner of a S200EXR, my first Fuji camera. I understand that with this camera (and other Fuji's) that RAW conversion is a problem. Has a solution for this problem been found yet? Do I need to download the included Fuji software and then updates? Will that enable successful RAW conversion? I just got the camera, and am trying to upgrade to working in RAW (as opposed to previously just working with JPG's), but this camera seems to present unique problems in RAW. Any advice would be welcome. -Thanks-

Seriously, the best advice to you right now is IGNORE RAW with this camera. It is just not worth it right now. Wait until you have a good feel for how it operates and what you can get from JPEG. The S200 produces EXCELLENT jpegs so do not worry about that at all. RAW is a whole bag of hurt. Especially if you have a Macintosh computer. Just forget it then.

Strong advice: Ignore RAW. There is a reason why Fuji buried the RAW selection deep down in the menus. They hoped no one would find it.

RM-
Kind of the impression I got... I'm liking the camera, I'm finding the accessibility of settings excellent, and the menu structure intuitive. Nice quality pictures, too. Thanks for the reply- was beginning to think this forum dead!!

I don't own the S200EXR but I'd suggest trying the supplied converter from Fuji as
well as this app from Oloneo, which I believe supports the S200EXR RAW files as
well...

Good luck...

Edit:
Yep, Oloneo supports the S200EXR...

You can see the complete camera RAW support list here: http://www.oloneo.com/en/page/photoe...e-support.html

Alternatively there is S7Raw (freeware). The latest version (0.4.7f build 164) says that it adds support for the S200EXR.

It doesn't look like S7RAW works with later Windows versions, though... as in Vista...

Wes
... I am using XP on one machine, and Win 7 on another. S7 Raw works fine on both.

Cheers.
