Just my two cents but their are people in this world that their job is to document dead animals and people (investigators, police, fire-rescue photographer etc) but it how they choose to use the images and not use them that matters. I feel if you take such an image that you should not freely be putting it out their in the public eye.

many times as a fire-rescue photographer I have to take images or choose to take images that might bother some people that is why you will not see me making them public or posting them.

I am not taking sides on the photo in question or the issue of wanting to leave the form I am ust saying that sometimes its better to think about what you are posting and how it might be viewed and if it could be offensive to a large group of poeple before you post it. Some photos are better kept to ourselves.

Dave, ANYTHING could be considered offensive for any number of reasons. That's the insanity behind political correctness. I put the disclaimer as the title. I put a sample image of what the videos contained. Earlybird looked past all that and "was offended" and proceeded to judge on his personal viewpoint. That's one thing. But, to do that and then when people don't agree with that viewpoint, become insulting and use political correctness to attempt to coerce people to that viewpoint is just like a kid having a tantrum because he can't have his way. He then challenged the moderator to CENSOR it in a way that was just crazy. "No backbone"... yada yada yada. No, sir. As was explained, this is no more "offensive" than someone posting an eagle with it's kill or a big cat with it's kill. It is a part of life and that was the point in my posting it. Death is part of life. Nobody is getting off this planet alive. And, as I stated, had the owner had more respect for and taken better care of that cat, she wouldn't have been chasing vultures away from it.

This has gotten so far away from the point of the original post it's crazy. Let's not turn this into a morals/ethics debate, folks, because it's not. Decisions were made by the "offended" party to leave Steve's with his parting shot. Fine. I wish him well trying to find another place as good as this. The moderator deemed the post inoffensive. Can we PUHLEEZ move on?

I have only just seen this thread. I am certainly not a shrinking violet but I also object to this thread, simply because of the title that was given to it. "Not for the squeamish" gave no hint of what was about to be shown, and if the OP really thought some people would NOT be offended by it then he needs to grow up. The reference to the Holocaust doesn't trouble me, nor would the posted pictures had I been given some inkling beforehand of what was to come.

Incidentally, saying that a cat owner is irresponsible if he allows his cat to roam and get run over is absurd and shows little understanding of the nature of cats. Al in all this thread has said a great deal about the OP.

And, from the sound of your post, you didn't look at the accompanying image or follow the entire thread. To bring someone to your point of view by insulting them is pretty silly. Had you read the entire thread you WOULD know a lot more about me. But, it's doubtful you did because you also would have seen the post of moderator deeming the material "inoffensive". I'm not going to reiterate my follow-on posts because you've already found me guilty of being politically incorrect. A charge I GLADLY accept and admit.

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT open any of the wildlife threads here. God forbid you are "offended" by a hawk eating a squirrel. Trust me, they will NOT be headed with any warning.

I have no intention of embarking on a tit-for-tat exchange. Having read the entire thread (though I didn't go to YouTube) my original thoughts stand.

Just a couple of additional points. I believe the moderator's lack of action indicates that (s)he did not consider the material sufficiently offensive to take action, a far cry from declaring it "inoffensive" It was clearly not inoffensive as a number of people have already declared that they found it offensive.

And I am not offended, and never said I was. I referred to other people who were. That is incontrovertible. My objection was not to the material but the label used in describing it.

Just because some people get offended by something, it does not mean that something is indeed offensive. It just means that some people are more sensitive to it than others, which is fine. It is unfortunate, however, that the radicals usually win these types of battles. Gladly that did not happen here.
