Thanks for the info. I thought that you were using flash because of the
EXIF info:
Flash: Flash fired, compulsory flash mode.

Is the EXIF incorrect?

The EXIF isn't correct because I have the camera set for external flash. When I DO use flash, it's off-camera. It's picking up the transmitter and assuming it's the flash and the flash is firing. See? They ain't all that smart.

Ah! That explains it. They are nice pictures. Very impressive
for indoor shots using a camera with a small sensor. I wonder if the
new F500 EXR P&S uses the same sensor as the HS20. If so,
I would be very tempted to buy one.
