Default Question on Macro

It seems that even on macro mode, the HS10 can have a hard time focusing on the main subject. So, instead of using Macro Mode, I just use MF and not only do I get a closer, more detailed shot, but I also get the results I really wanted.

The only question I have about this is should I keep it on Macro Mode and let it do the focusing, or should I go MF?

Whatever works best for you is what you do. I have read more than once that the recommended method of focus for a macro is MF. Personally, that's what I use when I use either of my Raynox lenses simply because it's less frustrating. That's with ANY camera I own... not just the Fuji.

I'm not certain of this, I just had a brain fart and went with it......but in my quest for quicker picture taking of all my wife's beads (one at a time) to list on her internet sites (for sale) when I had focus lock problems I used a hand held object of larger dimensions than my subject, and waved it through the infrared beam at the same DOF.....??? It seems to work, I dunno.

I had to do that on this flower at a 2.5

And this small single bloom off my rhododendron
