Default Anybody having Fuji HS20 with batch 1AQ

I was planning to buy the Fuji HS20EXR tomorrow but just wanted to check the batch number with the members here. The camera here offered has 1AQ.

You can check the batch no at the bottom of the camera where the serial number is mentioned.

I would like to know if anybody has this batch of cameras and have any issues.

Thanks,

Saket

I haven't bought the Hs20 yet. I'm waiting for the price to fall a bit further.
I read someone recently who said that he had 2 Hs20's and returned
both. They had serial numbers starting 1A. The third camera he had, started
with 1BA. He said there was a world of difference in the quality. He put this down
to Fuji upping their Quality Control. Whether this is right I don't know but I ain't
buying unless the serial number starts 1BA or better. Can anyone else advise.

I can say this: My HS-20 serno starts with 1AA and I haven't had a lick of a problem since day one. I've had it since mid/late April.

Usually ALL first batches of industrial product designs have their issues / quality control problems, whether it be a budget purchase or even a high quality marque brand. I have plenty of experience of this, so I am confident that I am not over-generalizing this observation. An acquaintance bought a brand new VW GOLF GTI (top spec) and it needed 4000 worth of work to replace a part, even under warranty, 1 MONTH LATER, or the drivers safety and the cars reliability was in jeopardy. This person is so rich that he left the car on the forecourt and gave it back to them in disgust (he is a millionaire). On a lighter note, first gen cameras have developed faults as have gaming systems such as Sonys Playstation brand. My original PS3 stopped working JUST after the warranty expired - despite me cleanign the heat extraction fans and moving dust away from the unit etc etc and making sure it was cool. It takes 2 or 3 more designs to iron the problems out. I would never buy a brand new Mk1 automobile or product fresh from the stables now. I cant even afford a brand new car lol. I always wait.

btw pedantic, I probably share characteristics of your namesake, I am equally anal-retentive.

I don't know if you noticed but the MKI HS10 had separate hard rubber and a gorgeous splattered gloss/matte finish to its exterior, basically a very expensive finish. When the economic climate took a turn for the worse, they replaced all this with a cheaper mono-shell plastic affair.

So maximising profit undoubtedley has a lot to do with these issues as well.....
