Default External Flash for HS20exr

Like most "older" people, I have numerous photo gear from several old 35mm cameras (three Nikons, a Pentax, and a couple Olympus, plus a 120 Mamayaflex and an Optika). One of the little strobes (external flash) used with them is a "Fujica Autostrobo 200X". It fits the shoe on the camera and the two contacts seem to match, however, I am afraid to try it. Anybody know if the old flashes work on the HS20exr?

G'day GB

As a qwik answer - suggest 'no'
Many film camera flash guns used a capacitor-firing voltage of 100v ... whereas today's digital cameras & their flashguns use 6volts

I would suggest that you chase up one of the many 3rd-party flashguns for $<100
I use Yongnuo 460s, bought from 'dinodirect' for $40 ea + postage
They have full eTTL functionality as well

Your old guns might be able to be used as slave guns - tho 'it depends' on their capabilities

Hope this helps
Regards, Phil [ps ...... I am also a GB, retired now, a baby-boomer fella]
