I think its okay if someone has done all the research - narrowed down their search - and are looking for a specific final opinion (e.g. do you think the Minolta A1 is worth a few extra dollars over the Nikon 5700 because of features x, y and z). These I will answer especially if I have recently researched and tried the cameras in question.
What annoys me - is if someone is using this forum because they are too lazy to look up the most basic information ("Can someone tell me the file size the Z1 allows"?) or has obviously done zero work themselves so ask completely open ended questions ("looking for the best $300 camera").

On the purchase of my original S602Pro, I did not have the option of trying the camera out, other than briefly around the store. I found feedback from users to be helpful. It gave me some insight to issues that I may not have thought of, or experienced in the short time I had to personally evaluate it. I do aggree with you that we should all read before we ask questions. I found a lot of answers by reading what others had asked. The bottom line is no one can tell anybody what the best camera is for them, only offer suggestions based on their knowledge and personal experience. Ultimately the right camera for anyone is the one that feels right in their hands, and becomes an extension of their ability to express themselves without battling the camera. ( If we only had forums that would offer this much help in choosing a spouse!)

I'm sure there must be forums out there that can help in chosing a spouse. In fact - there probably are places you can buy one

I don't think I could ever do any better on the spousal arrangement than I have, other than her claiming the odd digicam from me!

Goofas, i expect that you look like the picture by your name!

If you can't be bothered to help anyone then i suggest you don't bother visiting this site. I know it is frustrating to see the same questions appear all the time but that is bound to happen. I have asked it and so has many others here. I have done the search too and still i have asked. I have no objection to people asking. I am a novice and like to see the helpfull replies that people write.

Everyone wants to make sure that they are buying the right camera and where else to get the "knowledge" than on an excellent site such as this.

Telling everyone to refuse to answer is childish and very stupid.

I receive several emails a week asking me about camera choices, I attempt to answer all of them. I would suggest that people who are looking for camera information attempt to locate a camera club in their area. In our club, we have many different models of cameras and owners that will let you touch and shoot with them.
