Would it be smart to start using the camera with 8 MP instead of using 16 MP anyway.
I mean if the sensor is too small for 16 MP it could be maybe minimize noise an other "issues" by reducing the MP size, like EXR does when in use.

Any comment/explanation is welcome

Just USE the camera. See what it can do in YOUR hands. Play with every facet of it and then use what YOU like. Too often we get this notion that just because we read something, it HAS to be done that way. Unless you bought it for someone else to use, it's YOUR camera. It's ok to try the techniques others have tried but everyone shoots differently. The basics are the same. Only the environment changes.

My newspaper editor had me play with the MP settings shooting at 8, 12, 14 and 16MP. We ended up agreeing that the 12MP settings gives us the quality needed for the paper without having extra huge file sizes. Also they said with 12MP they can crop when needed without issue. However that said I shoot an entire weeding at 16MP with amazing results.

..of course I have to play.
I just have to go on vacation soon and I have not enough days to experiment.

I do not have to print more tha 20x30 at max.. primarely 10X15 or bit larger (13X17)
I need to have good P&S from start and when I am back I can play.

So I was just fishing good tips for a fast start..
Thanks...
