It's.............okay but I don't like it. Do yourself a favor and buy this one. hdc sd90 by panasonic. Trust me you wont regret it. i also use the hs20 for pictures. cant wait for the new fuji. if you cant view the videos on your pc, use lower resolution. I record on 1080p 60fps and convert down to 720p for video editing. all my archive is high res. all my demo video is 720p 60fps.

Cresho:

It sounds like you don't like the HS20EXR for video. Which "new" Fuji are you referring to? The HS30 or X-S1?

If you were buying today and let's just say the HS30EXR and the X-S1 were available for purchase. Which camera would you buy and why?

You also mentioned Panasonic. Would you go with the FZ150 over the HS30EXR or X-S1?

Is the X-S1 really worth paying $799 for a non-dSLR camera?

Thank you
Neal

If you will shoot many videos and you expect good quality, maybe Fuji is not the right way !
I suppose HS-30 won't be much better than HS-20. Whose video is good, but not spectacular !

XS-1 appears on the market with a sensor bug, which is impermissible for me, for camera which costs more than a DSLR !

So, If you want really good videos, think about entry-level DSLR !
Panasonic cameras also make good videos.
Make an comparison in YouTube ! There are many videos from these cameras !

The video on the HS20 is in my opinion ok video. Its there if you need it in a pinch or to grab a small clip for some reason. But if your looking for very high end video quality you will want a video camcorder.

you wont like it. for a band you need a video cam that does fast focus. HS20 I guarantee it wont do fast focus during video recording. consider the cam i mentioned.

I think the AF is not the main problem !
He can use it on center mode and I think he will use a Tripod, so the AF is maybe not so bad...
BUT the problem is that you still wont like it !
Cause the quality of indoor and lowlight movies is not so good.
Videos are soft and I think won't be sufficient for your needs.

You can check this one
I've made it 2-3 days ago.

Mindhunter, go to YouTube and type "newburgh Jammers" into the search bar. These are all my 99 musician videos, the last 4 are done with my HS20exr (the most current ones) they are un-edited. The rest are done with my S2000HD Fuji. I will use this camera for any other video's I do. After 3~3 1/2 minute vids with my HS20, it overheated and shut down. My S2000HD can do 30 3 1/2 minute vids with no problems at all. I did not buy the HS20EXR for vids anyway......J4c BTW, the musicians are various members from their own bands from the past. P.S. My screen name there is "aliasfred"
