Thanks Keith- and yes,I did own the S100fs- and the S200EXR- and the HS 10...lol...
The XS-1 would be a good upgrade from the S100fs- with a build akin to a mid range DSLR, a wider and longer lens (24-624mm),faster AF and shot to shot times (especially with image review switched off) and burst modes.
I wouldn't recommend it for video work- simply due to its manual lens, making smooth zooming difficult (though I guess ok on a tripod...)- but as a stills camera- definitely one to consider...

G'day Simon

Congrats mate - well done
I've had mine for 3-months now and am well into my love affair ... tho I am also discovering some of its hidden issues too

I bought an XS-1 as a gift for a close friend and actually did have some time to work with it then for the very first time (*grin*). The viewfinder, alone, is worth the price of entry. I was thinking it was an aerial image until I remembered the specs. We took a few dozen shots at a party and I hope to have my friend (who is actually the owner of the XS-1 now) send me the jpegs we shot.

I was very impressed with the build and "feel" of the camera. I own an S9100 and S100fs; the XS-1 does feel like the big brother. Hope it drops in price soon. I split the cost of the camera with another friend so we could gift it to our close friend whom I've known for 56 years (since we were 4).
