Default Please help with deciding on Fuji

Im after a digital camera, mainly for taking shots of my little girl and when I take her out on trips to the zoo and things....

I have looked at both the fuji finepix s3000 and s5000...

This is my first good camera but I am very interested in starting photography as a hobby as well as for the above reasons...Can you advise me which of the above would be the best for my requirements and why?

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer this for me and helps out a potential hobbyist!!

Cheers

The S3000 should be an "easier" camera to use because it has fewer choices for exposures. Not that I'm saying the S5000 is "hard" to use, just more features.

Also the S5000 is a 10x optical zoom compared to 6x for the S3000.

So, in short, list 3 features that you think are on the "top of the list" for you. One that is always on mine is a powerful zoom.

I could go on and on...

In my very humble opinion, if I had to choose, I would go with the S5000. It's got a longer zoom (10x compared to 6x on the S3000), is able to record movie clips with sound (no sound recorded with the S3000), and has greater ISO sensitivity (up to ISO 400 with maximum resolution, 800 with 1 Meg setting).

These features would be important to me, especially if I had a daughter as you do.

I just got my S5000 this morning, and I have to say that I'm very impressed so far, although with my HP and windows ME, I had a bear of a time getting the computer to recognize the camera initially. Really, really vivid colors!
