Default S5000 - Do I have to leave that thing on it?

The manual for the FujiFine Pix S5000 says to leave the adapter ring on. It serves as a bit of a lens protector and allows for adding other lenses to it.

However, having that ring on there makes it hard to find a case for it.

Do I need to leave the ring on it?

no, you don't need to leave the adapter ring on the camera. but, it would be wise to use the adapter and a filter for protection from dust and minor bumping. there must be lots of camera bags out there that are small and can accomodate the camera. if you are looking for just a camera case just for the camra and nothing more, then you may have trouble finding one to fit with the adapter. i
have the s602z and use a small bag that accomodates the camera
and adapter, 2 sets of batteries, a few filters, memory cards and
a set of 3 closeup lenses. i think it's only about 9x9x9 inches or
smaller.

I too have the S602Z and my first camera bag I bought was a Tamrac Digital Series 5696 and can fit the camera with the adapter ring attached. It also has room for batteries and a memory card case.

The second bag I bought was a Samsonite bag (because I now carry an AC adapter and battery charger) with customizable main compartment that divides into 3 parts.

So try looking in the department stores or electronic stores. You're bound to find something!

Default thanks

I did do some scouting around and purchased the Tamrac 5696, I think it was. Fit the camera great.

Thanks,
Nathan
