Default F601 dying of overheating...

Bought Fujifilm Finepix 601z about ten days ago, and had to return it - it would overheat in 15-20 mintutes and would start behaving weird...

Battery compartment is behind the LCD and LCD would start emitting noise. Finally the camera died and would not turn back on.

Is this just bad luck? I liked the camera is was happy with its features. Should I get a different F601?

Sounds like it was a short in a battery or in cam. Just ordered a new charger myself from Thomas that will detect bad batteries and has recondishing cycle. If you liked cam stay with, changeing model/brand may give you a perfect running cam that you do not like.
Good Luck,
