I'm not sure if this is the correct form or not to put this in. I've decided to try here since several people have actually done this.

Let me preface this by saying that I'm new to my camera and clueless, but can someone walk me through the process of formatting the Magicstor microdrive for my S7000? I know you want to format it down to 1.98 GB so it will work with the camera, but how exactly does one go about this?

I hope this hasn't been posted somewhere else either, but I didn't see anything.

Any help would be vastly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't have any monster flash cards, so maybe you it won't do it with the really big cards, but I've always read that it's best to format the cards in the camera, and not on your computer.

I broke out my manual just for you. It's on page 86. If you can't find yours, here's the link to it in PDF form from Fuji:

Because initializing the media erases all the files,

Press "d" or "c" to select "OK".

2
Pressing the "MENU/OK" button erases all the files and initializes the media.

Always check the media to be formatted on the screen before proceeding.

Thanks so much! I briefly skimmed over the manual, but I guess I could've looked at it more closely. Thanks again!

Okay, it won't allow me to format this in the camera because the drive is bigger than 2 GB's (2.2). I've looked at the link of the compact flash card drives, and honestly, all of them support 1GB drives (not 2). So my question is, how do I get this thing formatted? I know some of you have done it! What do I need to do?

I'm no expert on this, but from reading up on this recently you cannot format the 2.2GB microdrive in the camera, you have to format it as a 2GB drive using a card reader hooked up to a PC, then the camera should recognise it. If you do some searching around you should be able to dig up more precise information on how to do it, I didn't have any trouble finding the information.

Sounds like formatting the Magicstor is a pain in the butt!! I took my Hitachi 2gb microdrive out of the box, pushed it into the microdrive slot and started shooting away, could not have been any simpler.
