It might be a stupid question,

Why do u need to discharge NiMH Batteries?

Who said that? You dont for NiMH batteries. It was recommended for NiCad batteries, due to a memory effect, but the NiMH are more tolerant of that.

In practise just use the bats in camera until camera indicates bats are low, then recharge. Of course you'll need additional spare bats to keep the camera powered.

Spare bats slowly loose charge over time, so it pays to keep them "topped up" with another charge before use.

As to the discharge function. Some chargers have an option to condition (discharge) the bats before a charge. This is a good idea when bats are first new and thereafter once in about 10 charges.

I have a Fuji S7K and it's manual says the discharge feature should only be used with NiMH battery.

That means don't use it with alkaline batteries - as it'll just dischange them completely :?
