I've had my S7000 for about a week now and have taken about 500 pics with it. I'm not that experienced and am still learning but it seems that I was getting better pics out of my cheap fuji A403 which is only 2.1 mp. A lot of my shots seem to be out of focus or very dull in colour and I am tearing my hair out a bit bause this is supposed to be a very good camera. I mostly take pics using the program mode and using single autofocus but pics still seem to be blurry at times. What I need is a few settings to go away and play with I think. Tried and trusted settings for different conditions that I can try manually and work from there. Anyone got any advice? Feeling very frustrated about this to the point of taking the camera back.

It might sound silly to suggest this, but check that the lever on the left side of the lens is set to autofocus.

I've had a similar problem and found that I had accidently left the focus set to manual.

Have you been using the camera to take pictures in low light without flash or tripod? (Just a stab at it). I have only recently received my S7000 and I have had no problems, the pictures can usually benefit from a minor levels adjustment and a little USM but are quite good right out of the camera.
