From another forum specific to birds and photography it has been suggested that I should use the 1.7x Olympus TCON-17 for the S5000, anyone used this lense or recommend one. Otherwise I may have to save my pennies for a megga 400mm + for my EOS 650 which I can't afford at the moment....not technically minded, lay terms would be appreciated, newbie here

The TCON 17 works very well with the S5000. It has the additional advantage of having a 55mm thread size, so it will fit on your lens adapter tube withouthaving to buy anadditional adapter.

Thanks......I think I will get the T-Con. I have managed to track down a S5000 forum and they advise the same....
