Cotton? I'm not sure if that's the right thing to use... I know this for sure. The lense is made out of highly polish and cut glass. You probably damaged the lense for good. I am not a repairmain though. You might want to start looking at reviews of newer cameras just in case your camera is out of warrenty.

I would only use a special lense cloth, or tool to get dust and smudges off the lense.

Hope I helped...

hey,

anyway, just thought that it may benefit you to know, so that you don't scratch your lens again. never use cotton, your normal spectacles cloth, tissue, or anything else to clean the lens. it will damage your lens for sure. you have to use lens tissue, and if you have lens cleaning solution, that as well. other materials have rough surfaces that can scratch your lens coating. also, it would be good if you can use a blower to blow away any dust particles on your lens because you don't want them to go abrading your lens when you clean it with the tissue. cotton definitely will not do any good.

hope that helps.
