Default Fuji 3800 Digital Zoom vs Optical

I have heard comments that you cannot disable the digital zoom on the Fuji 3800. When you are zooming, is there some sort of indicator that you are beyound the optical zoom and are now invoking the digital zoom? Or do you just have to sense that the lens is no longer extending?

When using the camera in 3 megpix mode it does not use any digital zoom only optical. When in any other setting if you hold the zom button down it will zoom to the max optical zoom then stop, you then have to release and press the zoom again to go into digital zoom. With this setup you don't have to worry about the cam automatically going into digital zoom.

Hope that helps.

Doesn't the 3800 have the same zoom indicator at the left of the finder that the 2800 does? On my 2800, the zoom "bar" in the EVF has a marker where the optical/digital switchover point is. There is a small white block beside it that indicates how far you have zoomed.
