Default Fuji 2800 and AR-FX3 adapter

This is probably a dumb question but I can't seem to find the answer. I have a 2800z and really like it but I keep an Olympus D-600L (with 55mm filters) around just because I can't use filters for my 2800z. I was looking at the review of the 3800 and noticed it seemed to have very similar dimensions and included the lens adapter tube. On a whim I went to the Fuji website to see if they sold the adapter as an accessory to the 2800 - nope. Before I give up looking I was just wondering if anyone has tried this.........

The lens on the 3800 is the same internally, but different externally: you cannot attach ANYTHING to the 2800 lens, except the lens hood that comes with it: no filters, no lens attachments. The 3800 has a threaded mount to accept the adapter.
