I've had the Fuji 602 for 2 years. It has been very satisfactory.
But horror, some images taken today show a black spot in the centre
of the image. This was not present in images taken a week ago.

Does anyone have any clue as to the cause. Can anything be done,
apart from returning to Fuji service?

Here is the image of an intense sunset here tonight:

This may sound dumb, but have you looked at the lens? It looks to me like you've got something on the lens.

Thankyou Basement Shows for the suggestion. I'll be sure to check
that, and hope that it's that simple. I'm concerned it may be a sensor
problem.

But optically speaking, I doubt that 'something on the lens' would
focus a defined spot on the camera sensor. Possibly someone with
a knowledge of optics may care to comment, or offer suggestions.

Thanks,
Baz.

after you get it cleaned (by fuji) use the adapter tube and always keep a uv filter in place

I had a similar problem (See flaw in my e550), and I sent it for Fuji. They said it was a dirty CCD, so they cleaned it and sent it back. But low and behold, it is still there. I have tried cleaning the lens so many times without success. My guess is the problem is actually inside the lens, where Fuji did not check. Wish they had checked to see if they fixed the problem before they sent it back.
