One of the features of the S5100 that really makes me consider it is that I can use it as a webcam. How good does it handle webcam capabilities?

When it is possible to purchase a WebCam for $50 or less, using a camera like the 5100 seems like such a waste of camera resources. I'm sure it will perform adequately, but that would certainly be the least of my concerns if I were looking for a camera. I recall reading a comment from someone in one of these forums that the 5100 didn't handle the lighting very well as a WebCam. But it seems to me that that would be more of a lighting issue in general than one that would be specific to a camera.

I have used it it looks great but why do this when you can buy a web cam for $20 - $40. Also dont forget the a webcam gets it's power for the usb port where you will have to put batteries in the S5100 for it to work.

Well, although I'd find a webcam fun, I don't need to buy a full time webcam. I'd just use the webcam features occasionally.
