Nine megapixels, image stabilization, external flash capabilities, super close macro, up to ISO 1600 w/low noise, pretty good price.

FWIW, it does NOT have image stabilization. I believe that the anti-blur refers to auto ISO.

The lack of IS by itself doesn't bother me too much b/c of its low noise/high ISO capabilities. However, combined with the slow lens at telephoto, I'm less than excited about it (I had planned on getting the successor of the S20 Pro/S7000, just b/c of the new sensor, and upon seeing that Fuji decided on a zoom range of 28-300, I was almost sure, despite not expecting any IS. However, their past ultrazoom models had an F3.0/F3.1 max aperture at the tele end, compared to F4.9 on the S9000).

You are correct, I misunderstood the description of the "anti-blur" feature. But as far as aperture is concerned, it seems to me that the 1600 ISO will surely compensate for the smaller wide aperture unless you are highly concerned about depth of field. I think it looks like a very nice camera.

Well Fuji doesnt say a whole lot about it on there site but it is exciteing. i love my S7000 and Im hopeing this will be a even better camera. I like the 9mp idea and the assist lamp will be a welcome feature. I see it will be avalable in sept. Hopeing to learn more abut it in the mean time. What price did you hear it was going to be?

jphess,

I agree that the high-ISO capability will make up for the slower lens compared to earlier Fuji models. However, considering the S9000 loses about a stop at the telephoto end compared to some of its competitors in addition to the lack of IS, I can't help but wonder what could have been.

IMO, if they had been able to keep the max aperture at full tele around F3 or so, they would have had a slight advantage on the Panys/Canons, etc., as I would always prefer faster shutter speeds without IS to slower shutter speeds with IS. Of course, if they had been able to keep the lens fast and add IS, now that would have put them way ahead of the competition.

Now im a bit depressed...These images look noisy to me. I don't think they look any better than anything Im taking with my S7000.. Was hoping for a leaps and bounds better and sharper image quality but am not finding it in these images. The out of focus background caused by depth of field still has a lot of noise in it and the close up of the flower isn't as sharp as some of the pictures I take on a regular basis..:-( Maybe its something your just not going to get without buying a true slr camera.
