there's nothing said by the guy in the shop about the Extreme III card, so I have no idea if it's an advantage to use the III instead of the II.
He only said that the Ultra II was fast enough for this camera.

Proton,

Can you test how fast a RAW picture is written on your XD memory card ? I only got the 16 MB one and the raw file is 18 Mb so I can't test it.

Thanks

XD writes RAW in 5 secs , CF writes RAW in 10 secs!

weird since XD has 3MB writespeed and CF Ultra II has 9 MB , so how can XD be faster then ?!? :?

Also XD writes in about 2 secs JPG fine and the CFII does it in about 2.5 secs , very weird....

Even their S3 Pro writes to xD cards twice as fast as CF!!

Look a little way down the following page under "File Flush Timing"

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fuji...pro/page10.asp

After all, "xD" is Fuji's own technology so they couldn't make a camera with a faster CF interface - could they

Proton,

If that is the case then it is a pitty I bought a Ultra II card because a normal CF card wil do the job as well for less money

I just bought a Sandisk Ultra II CF 1GB card for my S9000. Havent had time to compare the speed differences between xD and CF yet though. I probably would have bought an Extreme III card instead, but I wasnt 100% sure if it'd work in the camera. This might have been due to my ignorance of CF specs, but the "compatibility" list on fuji's website sure didnt help matters: very vague and confusing as to which sorts of CF will work in the camera.

I'm looking now for a good buy on a CF/PCMCIA adapter to dump the 1GB card in a hurry. The USB cable is a little clumsy, and the rubber flipper that covers the USB access seems quite fragile to me. Other than that, from what little I've used my camera, IT ROCKS!! :|
