Default can I use a smartmedia card from a Fuji in my Olympus?

I want to borrow a friend's smartmedia card from his Fuji and use it in my Olympus and want to make sure that it will work.. It is just a matter of sticking the card in my camera and then formatting it???

Also, when I am done with it, does he just need to format it in his Fuji to make it work for him again?
Thanks,

Yes.

You may not even need to format it. You ought to, just in case, though.

I can swap cards between my Oly and Fuji just fine. They each create their own directory on the card and store the pictures within that so there is no need to reformat.

I'm not an Oly user, but thought there was an issue with pano mode not working on oem cards, and screwing up others with files not readable by Windows - or has that prob gone away?

I read that too, that Oly panoramas need Oly cards. Normal shots should be ok with any brand of card.
