i am thinking of buying the s5200, and since there aren't any reviews yet, i have a question:

is the EVF usable in low light?

and, as a follow-up question:

is it sharp enough for manual focusing on any light (i will be doing a LOT of it)?

Perhaps it is my poor eyesight, but in my opinion, it would be difficult for me to manually focus with the EVF. Perhaps it could be done with the EVF.

kuroyume-

I just received my S-9000 today. Believe me, the EVF on the S-9000 blows away the S-5200. You have been warned. The S-9000 is THE camera to use for MANUAL focusing.

Kuroyume - I have an S5200, and the EVF, while lower resolution than the S9000's, is usable in low light, in fact it actually gains up a bit.The light has to be quite lowbefore the EVF becomes unusable. I just looked down the unlit hallway of my house through the EVF and could see quite well. I have no doubt the S9000is much better. It should be - it's a lot more expensive.

thanks for the advice climber, but while i would love to be avle to afford the s9000, i am a college student with low budget, so i have to make some trade-offs...

so far, the s5200 is looking like a good choice for the price...
