I am evaluating digicams with decent movie capability before I buy - the S7000 is a possibility.

I have seen one sample movie on this site. Is anyone aware of any others ?

The movie memory requirements for the S7000 seem less than other 640x420 30 FS cameras ( which don't use MP4 ) - only ca 70 MB/Min compared to 120 MB/Min for many others. Presumably this must be due to higher data compression, which could lead to artifacts. Any comments on this please ?

So it would be nice to see a few more sample movies before I buy.

I was not really familiar with uploading photos/movies so did a search round and found several site, one being looks as if it is used for "girlie" things as well - anyway it is free. Hope it is not one which tries to download spyware to your PC. I am fairly well protected ( I think ! ) . I have tried it out with a S9000 saple movie which I found at a review of the S9000 at

I have tried Megaupload by uploading the S9000 sampl movie. It is at

So, you could us that to upload your S7000 one then post the link.

In the meantime I think I will investigate other upload sites, which are maybe less dubious than magaupload.

I must admit to having been disappointed with the video on the S7000...

I also have an M603 which is excellent in that respect... and zooms during filming!

my S9500 seems to be a bad one... so I will have to wait for repair/replacement before i can comment on it.... although it looks to be better than the 7000... and will take the 1 gb. XD card.... which the M603 and S7000 will not (S7000 not for movie mode that is)

Here is a 40mb avi I took of my Dads Viper with my Fuji S7000 camera. I hope its not to big but it will kinda let you here how the sound, sounds too while walking around the car while its running. it was a bit of a overcast day. Ive played it on my bigscreen tv and thought it was pretty good. Im sure there are cameras designed to do it better but the fuji at 30fps and 640x480 size does pretty good. Im satisfied with it. Hope this helps your desision makeing. I know its always nice to get real world feed back from everyday people useing the product your interested in getting.

Take care and happy shooting, Mark

Hey if this is to big ill shoot something new tomorrow shorter and upload that.

Hi - Got it - no problem with the size.

Thanks for that.

The video looks pretty good to me. Nice car too !.

The higher compression which Fuji uses gives longer videos but potentially can cause more compression artifacts. However, these don't seem to be noticable in your video.

I will try to get more images fro the recent S9000 and E900 before making a final decision.

Thanks again

A further thought about the S7000

What is the movie quality like indoors e.g. in poorish light ?

Do you have any samples taken indoors which you could post?

Sorry to be a pest !

One unfortunate thing about the S7000 is that it does not offer a 15FS mode for movies - only 30FS. For low motion movies I think you can often get away with 15FS instead of 30FS - to double the movie length.

Any comments on this ?
