Default Quality Control

As I read post on the Fuji Forum I see more post referencing problems with their Fuji cameras. I own two Fujiís and both perform great for me. I have a 2600 and an S602. Are there more problems with the Fuji or is it just me? Is there a site that references repair histories of camera brands?
Just wondering

I've read a couple of things which seem consistent. One is any repair of any sort takes forever to come back. It's not like cars where you can get a 'courtesy cam'! The other is dust in optics of zoom cam lenses - but this is thought to be down to pressure equalisation design of the extending zoom. The third is panic about hot pixels - but some of this is paranoia and seems prevalent in the Oly/Nikon camps. The more you pay - the harder you look for problems.

I had a Finepix 1300 which had a pitted lens protector (bought floor model). It took Fuji a year and they finally decided they couldn't get a better one (all refurbished). They then swapped it for a 2300 (good deal), but the 1st one seemed to have a misaligned lens or CCD (blurred on one edge). They swapped that one in 10 days for my current one which is fine so far. In the interim I bought a Finepix 2800. The first one had visible chromatic aberrations in the corners. I returned it to the retailer and got my present one which is top notch so far.
We also have a Canon A40 with a misaligned lens or CCD also, and it was returned to Canon who said nothing wrong (they attributed it to fingerprint on the lens) !!! We are returning it for exchange at the retailer after having contacted the retailer's customer svc dept.

I had to return 3 2400Z's due to the right hand side of the images being blurred

It would be interesting to know what percentage of the Fujis and the Canons have this misalignment problem. Canon acted as if they never heard of it before. Fuji just replaced the camera after two requests with only one dissenting techie.

Read this for Canon A40 similar issue:

Look at the pics in my Canon gallery for samples ( 2 diff users):

I wonder what happens to all these 'dodgy cams' they get back? Do we need a blacklist serials database or 3rd party 'warranty tracker' site?

Manufacturers often hide behind the difficulty consumers have to co-ordinate issues amongst themselves. Forums are great for user discussion and feedback, but their information is qualitative and you can't easily get hard data on returns and faults which the manufacturers can easily collect. Just need the right sort of website. Could do it with cars as well - that would be interesting!

Here are some shots from my now replaced Fuji Finepix 2400Z

As you can see the right hand 1/5 gets more blurred towards the outside edge.

This only happened when the camera was operating on normal zoom, if u zoomed in or out then the entire image was clear :

Thankfully now got a Fuji S602 and loving every sweet minute!
