Hi,

I haven't had an S9000 in my hands so my question is…. Does this camera us a wire for manual focus or is it a true manual focus? I currently use an S602 with a wire manual focus and I really want a camera that offers real manual focus but I don't want to go to a DSLR do to the dust problems on the image sensor that people are having. Thanks

Manual focus on the s9k is 'fly-by-wire', NOT direct manual focus. Turning the focus ring when in manual mode controls the focus motor to focus the lens.

Do you know if this is better than the 602 manual focus? The 602 manual focus basically sucks.

Well, it certainly "sucks", but mostly due to electronic nature of viewfinder, although this type of "fly-by-wire" focus mechanismis much better than button-controlled counterparts. As for s602 - the feeling is about the same, the EVF is of better resolution.

I find manual focus to be smooth and you would not know it is by wire.

To me it works like a mechanical focus ring. At least on the S9000.
