Default Trouble loading Mass Storage driver

I have no trouble installing FinePix Viewer software but when I connect the 101 with USB cable my computer (Windows Me)does not respond with new hardware detected on first time use. USB drivers are operating and confirmed in Device Manager. I downloaded FinePix Viewer 3.2 from website and installed that...no luck. Is there something simple that I am missing. I am new to this digital camera world and would appreciate help from anyone who has experienced a similar problem or can give me some direction. Thank you

Have you turned on the camera? Windows will not recognize it until it is switched on. Windows should recognize the camera even before installing FinePix software. I had no trouble with Windows 98 or XP, but haven't tried Me.

Default Camera is on!

Thanks for the reply Rodney. Yes, the camera was connected as instructed in the manual and on. I had no problem connecting it to my wifes computer but doesn't respond when connected to mine. I suspect that it has something to do with my computer and it's USB drivers/interface, or something like that.

Default Not sure?

Unfortunately, I have no other USB devices at present. And yes, I will be borrowing another device to double check to see if the problem is with my board, which it most likely is.

When I had this prob. (running 98SE) I fixed it by downloading a motherboard BIOS update - fixed in a flash!

Default Flashing Bios doesn't help!

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, that didn't work. I'll have to beg borrow or steal another USB device to test. I live some distance out of town so it is not that easy to just go find one. But, when I do I will let you know. Thanks for the advice.

Best buy a USB card reader - cheap enough and very handy!
