Is using the night setting the best? Or is a manual setting better? Any help would be greatly appreciated? Thanks.

I'm not sure what is the best setting
but I did some Christmas lights photos last night
and the best shots that came out well I had the
settings on
ISO 400 or 800
Shutter speed 1/8 sec
and use a tripod

I didn't noticed any noise by using the high ISO
Most probably theres a better setting (interested to hear from others)but it worked for me

I would try the night scene mode with the camera on a tripod. That worked fairly well for me on this photo last year. Not perfect, I know. But I was quite pleased.

You'll really be impressed with this camera's 24-hour ability. Regardless of what hour (morning, noon or night) this camera has really produced some nice photos for me.

I haven't experimented with Night Shot mode, yet. As of yet, for night shots, I've almost always used Natural Light mode.

EXIF: 1/13 sec. > f/3.2 > ISO 800 > Focus 9.0mm
EXIF: 1/15 sec. > f/3.2 > ISO 800 > Focus 6.3mm

Not too bad for hand-held. All on (N) Natural Light mode. Could these photos be better? Sure! Are they pretty darned good for what is essentially a Point & Shoot camera? You bet your boots!
