I emailed this guy to thank him. Pity we don't have a few more different models. I saved the html pages, just in case they go away.

Tells you a lot more than how many Mpixels its got, and its not in Japanese!

Yeap, pretty cool job, just to take things apart and see how they tick!

Default Dis-Assembling the S602z

Ron, If you back to his site and check the beginning he states that the Pix were taken with a Canon G2 & states that even with 4 hours of fiddling he couldn't get it to take a decent shot .... which is why we all bought the fuji 602 to begin with

Perhaps now he's got his 602 back together and working, he can take his G2 to bits and we can compare the quality of the pics taken with the 602!

He told me he has a Sony, which he likes for build quality, but not as a cam. Seems like he's done what in UK we get with a 'Haynes' manual for cars-- step by step dissection with photos and tips as to tools and short cuts etc. Garage businesses hate it!

Any way you look at it, he's good if it 1) worked and 2) it worked even if he had parts left over. He risked a lot of money and I'm sure the factory wouldn't have touched it if he shipped it to them in a basket.

Even if it did take him a day, he still got his cam apart and back together working, quicker than sending off to Fuji!!

He said sorting out probs with a sticking zoom is a snip (not that I've had any yet). "Who Dares Wins"

Default Hiyas

Hiya guys,
so this is where many of my /s602z/ hits come from, AND I find I'm an "old" member, don't ya hate Alzheimers 8) ok is this working?
Thanks for ya comments, I do intend to "open her up" once again with much more detail, especially with specific "service guides" ie cleaning CCD etc. My first will be dust in the Focus gear train, it seems to "jam" the mechanism" and its easy to fix. I'm a lot calmer now, engineers that deliberately "sabotage" design get me MAD as heck!! Seeing as EOL is near and no worthwhile updates at PMA, we better plan for the future. So can I come here? I don't eat much  oooo I like this Forum style
