Hello All,

Attended a Christmas Show with my S9000 and my monopod.

We were seated in the rear of the auditorium.

All of my images were shot from my seat.

Image 27 ( page 3) shows our view of the show.

Images 2 & 13 were shot by my Self-timer as I held my camera above my head by holding my monopod upward.

One moment I shot at 200 mm and then the next at 600 mm digital Zoom. I went back and forth. I tried manual focus as well. With the max 4.8 aperture at the tele end, the shutter speeds were a bit slow to capture some of the acton. my shots were coming out blurry.

I adapted to the situation by followng the action and taking the shot at the end of a performer's movement. This worked well and I decided to shoot raw depending on the importance andthe timing of the performance.I found that at 800 ISO, shooting RAW, does indeed provide alot of detail that you can obtain by using Neat Image to reduce the noise.
Jpeg in camera processing does eat detail at hgh ISO.

It was a fun Show and it was enjoyable to push the limits of my S9000 and still obtain some captured moments.

I presented the church with an album of all 29 images printed at 8x10:

Hi Steve & All,

As a matter of fact we ( the audience) had to sit in the rear as the front was occupied by the school children, ( grades 1 through 8.

Our seats we sized for children not adults. Once seated you could not move much except raise your hands up and down. The only time I would be noticed taking pictures was when i raised my camera ovehead with my monopod.

We enjoyed the show. The kids performed very well.

Regards, Nicholas

Nicholas

Big improvement from the Sony F828, noise is well controlled (even in these compressed downsized images) and there isn't much detail lost. Great shots.

Happy New Year

Ira
