I have a Fuji S7000,when using the mains converter,should I remove the batteries.

No need to. Theres a change-over switch (a lever actually) in the DC socket which disconnects the batteries. Theres been many cases where this lever has been damaged or stuck, in which case you find you suddenly can't use batteries at all. Just worth knowing for future reference.
