I have just discovered a small bubble on the outer lens element. First off I thought it was an external mark but on closer inspection it appears on the inside. Is it likely to have much of an effect on the way the camera functions?

None at all. I've seen lens bubbles on the glass of Schneider view lenses. Light, litterally, moves around that bubble and since it is on the inside of the glass it is nearly next to impossible to detect in a finished print. In fact, probably impossible. Now a dot of dust on an imager, the CCD or other now that's a different story. Even a scratch on the outside of a lens element is only noticable in certain circumstance, such as shooting into the sun where there could be some flare from the scratch.

The yellow words are horrible to read by the way.

Thanks, that's interesting to know. Of all the cameras and lenses I've owned I've never come across a lens bubble before - perhaps I've been lucky.

PS I like yellow and so does this website designer by the looks of things

My computer at work shows this up asyellow on black background and you can see this pretty well. But, I have changed my "view" to the blue screen mode . And on this view the screen is white background, so the yellow almost blends into nothingness. *S*

verm, go up to the top of the page called "My Account" click it and the go to the "preferences" tab and down there near the middle of the page is page setup ( called board layout or similar) where it will show "shades" on your screen. Pick either "default" or "default2" and then come back here and see what we are meaning :-)

Ah, I see. Cheers. I've been viewing this website in 'Shades' which is the black background with yellow buttons etc.
