Has anyone compared the wide-angle extenders for the S5200? Is there a favorite? I'm concerned about optical quality because this kind of product is a bit of a "kluge" not explicitly intended by the designers of the camera.

Hi Chris,

I'm a 5200 owner and own Fuji's own telecon and widecon as well as "unbranded" screw on attachments. My own accessment is that the camera is not meant to be used with these. I'm dissapointed.

Fuji's own widecon for example works fine ... BUT ... flash cannot be used or underexposure occurs in every shot. Tried everything I can think of ; manual mode, various shutter / aperture settings - same results.

For telecon adapters, the focus speed is greatly reduced and sometimes it would not focus. Worse still; images shot below 1/125 are usually look blurry. When the day is bright it's great but overall; I feel that I should have saved money.

Generally dissapointed. With my "unbranded" screw ons; Kenko and Pro-optics - exhibit the similiar problems but with even softer images - presumably lower quality lenses on these.

Your mileage may of cource wary.
