Where did you hear this? SOunds like nonsense to me.

Buy any brand smart media you like. The only problem that i know of with fuji cameras is the model s602 camera, and it's compatiblity with certain brands/models of compact flash cards.

ALL Smartmedia cards are OK since you're just buying generic memory, and they're fast BUT max limit is 128Mb. If you feel happier paying more for warranty, that's up to you. I've bought returns cheap, cleaned them up with WinHex and they've been fine.

CF cards need built in driver circuitry to use up all those 50 odd gold plated pins!

It doesn't matter what the brand is - they all come out of the same factory anyway.

I've had a 2800 for 18 months and can say with complete certainty - the best SM to buy is the one you get for the lowest price. They ALL work equally well. I buy the cheapest and swap them as required between my 2800 and my Oly 4000Z.

So the max limit for the fuji 2800z is 128mb? That's is not cool. Has anyone ever tried a 512mb out of curiosity? I need more space and the 128 and 16 I'm using just isn't enough. When I took my first trip to NY, I wanted to cherish everything, and I had to delete pics because I didn't have enough room. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has tried using 512mb and the outcome. If worse comes to worse I will just get another 128mb.

Smart media cards top out at 128 mb. Olympus and Fuji switched to xD cards, and most of the rest use sd or CF cards.

I had the samequestion: why no 256 mb card. No answer. Maybe too slow. Maybe too f ragile. Maybe too hard to make cheaply.

Woah, I didn't know that! I just thought maybe this particular camera only went up to 128mb capacity. Interesting!

Ok so then I'm assuming I wouldn't be able to use anything else with my fuji finepix 2800z.. other than my smartmedia right?

That's alright, I'll just buy more smartmedia cards.. I love taking pics.

Yep, you're stuck with SmartMedia cards. But that's ok. I took lots of good pictures with an Olympus C-2100UZ and it took smart media cards.

When you are ready to upgrade, you will be using different memory cards: xD, sd, or CF probably.
