I spotted this sign all over the beach area streets of Virginia Beach. It caused me to wonder until it was explained that the City Council felt strongly that the beach remain a "family area," and that sometimes takes extra effort with the thousands of sailors present at any given time.

Great shot. Reminds me of that interminable year I spent there while in the Navy. That's not the first time sailors got blamed for something down there and it will no doubt not be the last. What the City Council seems to have forgotten is that many of the people on the beach are sailors and their wives and children. They dislike bad language as much as the civilian residents.

The Virginia BeachCity Council used to place signs in their parks that read "Dogs and Sailors Keep Off The Grass". The more things change, the more they remain the same.
