This crow lives where Iphotograph song birds and my favorite Ruby Throated Hummer, and it is active indeed. I caught a photograph of a squirrel frozen stiff in fear while the crow sat perched a few trees away, and you always here it's grovelling cry as it waits for the next morsel. Well, here's my capture of it today...no processing, honest, except for the text of course.

And... Good Evening to you too, Mr. Crow! You look nice and healthy and plump. Why don't you start a weight reducing plan...
Norm, I take it that you would like to see this crow find him or herself a new territory. |

Nah, he/she needs to earn a living too. I just "hope" that he/she stays away from my hummingbird. Although I've seen some pretty tiny birds attacking these guys in the air so perhaps I should be more worried about the crow than the hummer.

Aha, I see you've already observed what is called "mobbing" behavior, when a "mob" of smaller birds gangs up on a larger, usually predatory, bird to chase it away, thus protecting the individuals among the smaller birds.
You'll often see raptors being mobbed by gangs of smaller birds. |
