Never know what you'll find in an antique store. I know that there are some "over-the-top" dog lovers out there, but can you imagine this? Perhaps she was sitting for her portrait before accepting her Oscar for "101 Dalmatians".

Yeah, I guess I just couldn't resist that "come hither" look. In my defense, tho, you should know that I am apparently drawn to black and white animals. We have a black labador retriver, a black and white cat, a pair of black and white Japanese Chins...who, last week, had five black and white puppies. |

That picture (not your photo of it) belongs on the side of the road in West Virginia right next to the silkscreen pictures of Elvis and poker playing dogs.

Wow, Steve, I was fascinated by your location - Eritrea. Had to look it up, since I'd frankly never heard of it? What are you doing there? Are you a transplanted West Virginian (doubtful)? Are you with the UN Peacekeeping force?
Regarding the painting, perhaps it was done with your suggested purpose in mind. Walter |

the only thing I know about Eritrea is that the place was well known in Australia in the 1990s because of the great Australian eye surgeon "Fred Hollows" who used to go over there and for free do eye surgery on the local people and they would regain sight.

Walter C,
Mercifully, I'm not in the UN Peacekeeping force, which now has its hands full with the situation along the border with Ethiopia. Lot's of posturing and sabre-rattling going on right now and everyone here is praying cooler heads will prevail. I came to Asmera, the drop-dead gorgeous capital city of Eritrea to visit some friends about a year ago and liked the place so much I decided to stay a while. Scuba diving in the Dahlak Archipelago takes up much of my time and money (so much so I still have to wait to buy the camera I lust over....the Maxxum 7D). Not from WV originally...Connecticut actually. Steve |
