I bought Win8 (when it was $15 to upgrade), installed it, then went back and reinstalled Win7. I didn't like many of the philosophies behind it. (For one, clicking "Games" takes me to Xbox. XBox has been the cause of my son's plummeting grades. My thinking was, with that move, whereas Steve Jobs emboldened Mac users at becoming creative, Win8 would be turning America into a land of couch potatoes filled with videogame addicts.)

After trying Win8, I bought my first Mac -- a Mac Mini. I've been processing photos on it since (and doing pretty much everything else on it). So you can say Win8 drove me to buy the Mac.

I wouldn't be able to help it, too, if I'd seen the books on store shelves. But I don't think I would have come up with the aptly conceived thread title. Good one.
