Hello all!
I'm currently a hobbyist... and will most likely always be one! hehe ![]() But I'm thinking about trying my hand at beginning portraiture photography. That being said, I'm looking for any advice on the following: 1. Gear (lens, lighting, tripod, etc.) 2. Resources (books, websites, tutorials, etc.) - Keeping in mind the more basic "for Dummies" resources, the better! ![]() 3. Other info (where to shoot these, posing, etc.) Any and all information would be appreciated! Thanks much! ![]() Ted |

One piece of equipment you would do well to have is a life sized manikin, or at least the head from one. Practice is always the key, and with a manikin you can practice without wearing out your friends and family.
The next step in practicing is with real people. Can you get them to smile in a natural way while turning to get the light to fall just right? |

"Digital Photography for Dummies" has a chapter on portraits, including lighting. Look for the familiar yellow jacket!
