Hi everyone, I'm new here and looking to buy my first digital camera and I'd like your advice.

I'm looking for an ultra compact zoom digital camera of a similar size to the casio ex-z40. I'd like at least 4mp resolution, a decent battery life, very little shutter lag and a quick startup time. The ex-z40 satisfies all of these requirements, but I have a couple of extra ones which it does not satisfy; I would like to be able to specify shutter speed to infinity like 'bulb' mode on a film slr and I would also like to be able to manually set the aperture.

The other camera that I have looked at is the pentax optio s4i, but rejected this due to Steve's concerns over picture quality. I have used earlier pentax optios and found that the flash performance was poor would frequently bleach the subject, especially skin tones.

Anyone got recommendations for other cameras I could look at?
