Im sure this has been posted numerous times, but I plan to travel this weekend and was wondering if I need to worry about my camera or CF cards being damaged or destroyed by the metal detectors and xray machines?
Thanks |

This is a controversial subject.
Recently, HP published some information that implies that you may have a problem. See this: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...cname=buy00498 |

I just went on a cruise with a gig of CF cards. I always put my camera stuff in my carry on bag. I went through many airport x-ray machines as well as the x-ray machine on the cruise ship many times and never had a problem.
You may have a problem if you put your cards in your checked luggage since I think they use a much higher powered x-ray machine to scan those bags. The airports have signs posted telling you not to put film or cameras in your checked luggage because of the x-ray machines. I would just put your stuff in your carry on bag. |

That's not X-Rays!!! Just possible electrical and magnetic interference from the machine itself...so could say it can also suffer from static electricity! |
