Some tech columnist (David Pogue at the NY Times?) reviewed the 8 MP cameras available and picked this one for video:
Konica Minolta Dimage A200 8MP Digital Camera with Anti-Shake 7x Optical Zoom $690 at Amazon, with this about video: QUOTE Movie Mode The Dimage A200 offers a true VGA (640 x 480 pixels) movie mode, enabling you to record video at TV-quality 30 frames per second (fps). You also have the option to shoot at a larger resolution (800 x 600, SVGA) at 15 fps, good for viewing on a PC screen. Unlike many digital cameras, the Dimage A200 allows use of both the optical and digital zoom while recording movies, and the Night Movie function makes subjects highly visible even in dark settings. You can shoot a maximum of 15 minutes of video with audio. END QUOTE For something other than "the best", the Nikon CoolPix 3200 shoots 640x480x15fps with sound, $200 at Amazon. I have the 2200 which has the same video but no sound, fun to use and reasonably good. :-D |

Here is another option. The Casio Exilim EX-P505 seems that it will have a great video mode with MPEG4, 640x480 @ 30fps, *and* ISO 1600 in movie mode. In still picture ode, the camera maxes out at ISO 400. Seems promissing to me.
Enjoy life! Steven |

Thkn 77 Tested the Fugi 700, but thats not in the same category as the S1, & Oly 770,,, Not a long zoom. Check out the Fugi S5100, it is the competitor to these other long zooms, and his review of the 700 is a pretty accurate description for the S5100, although it has a longer zoom, and sharpness, speed,& low light, pics, & video,is better then the Canon S1. Good Luck trying to get the S1 to focus in low light, and noise in low lightpics, & video's, is pronounced!,,, compared to the S5100.
