I just purchased the sony p150 and installed the software. It is pathetic. It will not allow you to do any editing. Can anyone recommend a good quality software package. I won't be doing any professional stuff, but I would like to get all the basics covered with maybe a few extras. Please help.

Well, there are hundreds (probably more like thousands) of image editors available now.
You may want to check out the posts in our Editors Forum, too. For basics, you may find that the free software available provides enough for you (depending on what you want to do). Examples would include thesoftware you see bundled with many printers. Here's an example from HP that will work with other printers, too: HP Image Zone Express Another example of free software would be the software that Kodak includes with their cameras: Kodak Easyshare Software Picasa is another free product, recently purchased by Google: Picasa Home Page One popular tool that many of us use for some functions (image resizing, viewing of EXIF information, etc.) is Irfanview. Make sure to download the free plugins, too. Irfanview In commercial products, many users like Adobe Photoshop Elements: Adobe Digital Imaging Products Page JASC Paintshop Pro is a very popularproduct, available for a fraction of the cost of Photoshop CS, yet still offering very powerful tools. You can download a trial to see if you like it. JASC Products Page There are many more products -- both free and commercial! |
