The C7070 is a very good camera, you will like the images and the many features, especially the swinging and twist upLCD. (great for low macro shots in the grass.) It is a very rugged camera, the trade-off is it's largesize and weight. That's for you to decide your size and weight limits.

You can get the exact same C7070 7MP sensor with a good lens inthesmaller & lighter C7000, and it costs less than the C7070. If you don't need all the advanced features of the C7070, you should try out the C7000. Good size &balance. Owners claim the photos are as good as the C7070, just not as many features on the camera. But it does same $ over the C7070. It has a 38-190 lens vs the 27-110 lens on the C7070.

(If you can afford to spend more, I haven't founda better lens in a non-SLR than the C8080. The lens on that 8MP camera is superb! In fact, the camera was designed around the lens. You would have to spend $2 grand in SLR lenses to equal the quality in the $700 C8080.)
