I'm not sure you can with the D550. Many cameras do not have this feature. I don't see it on any of the record or playback menu screens in your camera's review here:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_reviews/d550.html I would never use a date stamp feature, since I think it ruins photos (and if you accidently set the camera's date wrong, it would be even worse). ;-) I've done this 3 times in the past few months (wrong date set by accident). I now have photos with 2006 and 2007 dates in their EXIF. ;-) But, if you have photos that you really need date stamped for some special purpose, you don't need a camera with the feature to do it. Thereare software tools available that can do this after the fact. The settings a camera used to take a photo are included inthe EXIF (a header that is part of your images). This header includes the date and time an image was taken. You can get free software that can read the date the photo was taken, and stamp your images with the date if desired. One example is EXIFER (it's watermark feature can read the date information, and place it on the photos in batch mode): http://www.friedemann-schmidt.com/software/exifer/ Using this technique (instead of a camera's date stamp feature), insures that you always have originals without the date stamp (since it can be unsightly). Simplywork with copies of your originals so you'll have versions with and without a date stamp. Some printing software can also place the date on a photo when printing (reading it from the header in the image file). Even the free software Canon includes with some of it's newer Pixma printers has this feature (and some third party printing software like QImage Pro can also do this, with nodate stampfeature in the camera needed). |

Thanks.
I do like all the picture to have the date printing. I looked at the reference guide for D-550 and found how to do it. It is possible with this model. Thanks again Zvi |

I just joined this forum. I have a D550 camera. I set the date and now if I print actual copies, the date shows. But is there a way to get the date displayed on the digital image when I view the photos on the computer?? Please help.
I found it very funny and irritating when the Olympus tech support gave the following suggestion: Print actual copies, date will show and then scan them to see on the image" I think they fail to realize that it is a digital camera and that would be the most silly thing to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |
